Titled “Journey Through the Lens”, this year’s exhibition showcases various styles of photography ranging from traditional, digital, and mobile created by UVAL members. This event is free and open to the public.
On Saturday October 5, 2024 UVAL opened its doors for its all-day event. The 2024 Pet Project Exhibition in Collaboration with Mission's RGV Humane Society.
Right off the bat, there was a steady influx of members and curious individuals strolling through the gallery and admiring the adorable pet portraits on display.
Sheri Rundell's picture perfect puppy drew attention with its adorable pleading expression. With its big round eyes, and ears propped up, you can practically imagine the head tilt and whine of the pleading pup.
Lively conversations were held, as we eagerly anticipated the arrival of the shelter puppies. Some of our newer members like Adamary (left) and Alondra (right) had some of their works on display too.
Sandra Mink has a B.S. in Art Education and has been working in the art sphere for more than thirty years. For this Exhibition, she's presented her "Beloved Bentley" portrait in Acrylic, which attracts attention with vibrant red cloth against a fluffy white puppy.
One of the first pieces Sold was Dian Pina's "My Cat and I" a ceramic cat/girl fusion with vibrant colors and a happy, contented expression on both Diana, and the Girl.
Adamary's "Dog Days" was inspired by her dog, Uny. In this piece we see it napping on a brilliant and colorful flower field, contrasted by the warm sunset behind them. This piece also shows the influence of impressionist painters like Monet.
This exhibition opened with more than the usual food and beverage. UVAL's volunteers hosted a few rounds of Pet themed Loteria games.
In the Art Link Studio next door, attendees could get their faces painted, or wind down with some coloring activities.
Around noon, the puppies arrived from the RGV Humane Society. Members eagerly waited as the pups unloaded and observed their new surroundings.
At first, people were scared of the energetic puppies jumping around, but soon enough everyone had a great time playing with them. The puppies were so cute that people couldn't help but relax and enjoy themselves. It was a fun party for everyone.
