The Upper Valley Art League offers four types of regular memberships to become part of this organization. UVAL also honors two special memberships.
Open to any artist 18 years or older. Annual dues are $35.00 per year.
Students enrolled in a public, private, or home school program, enrolled in an institution of higher learning, or enrolled in a trade or technical institution can qualify at student rates. Dues are $20.00 per year.
Individuals who live in the same household and who are related can qualify under the family membership. Annual family membership is $50.00 and includes children in Middle School and above.
Individuals who do not identify as being artists but who wish to support the work and mission of the local art community at UVAL may join as a patron. Dues are the same as individuals, $35.00 per year; but as a patron, larger contributions supporting the arts are always welcome.
In recognition of their ongoing major contributions to UVAL and its mission in promoting the arts in the community, UVAL confers lifetime memberships to individuals who deserve this recognition. The Board has awarded this to approximately five individuals., for example Maxilou Link who served as president of UVAL for over 16 years and helped develop it to the level it is today.
In recognition of individuals in our community who identify as artists, who have been members of UVAL for a minimum of three years, and who have reached an age of at least 85 years, membership is conferred on them at no charge. This honor serves as a sign of distinction that the Board considers well-deserved.
Membership is from January through December of each year.
The dues are low and are generally not prorated. However, if someone joins in Sept of this year, a fee of $45 will allow coverage for the remaining of 2022 and all of 2023. If joining in November, the regular fee of $35 will cover through the next year.
There is an application at UVAL to be completed. Membership fee can be paid at the front desk, payable by check, credit card, or cash.
In most cases, family membership includes a spouse and/or child living in the same household. Adult children and or other "family" living in another household should register their own membership.
Children in Middle School will be accepted but they must be accompanied by a parent for appropriate supervision. High school students join with the understanding that safety is critical while working at UVAL and knowing that UVAL may restrict some activities for students. Anyone under 18 will need parental permission to join.
Membership is required to exhibit in the gallery and to use the facilities in the annex. However, members may wish to bring a guest to experience the benefits of membership. This might include coming to a clay activity, meeting the paper crafter group, find out what the watercolor group is planning, be introduced to other members, etc. It does not include coming to the Life Drawing Group. Have them get informed before deciding to join. We welcome inquiry.
